Montreal Dickens Fellowship makes its first contribution to the Tiny Tim Fund

On Tuesday, July 2nd, fellowship president,  Dr. Ellie Clavier-Rothstein, vice-president, Sylvia Rabinovitch and secretary, Louise de Tonnancour, visited the offices of the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation to present a cheque for $500.00 to Michele Lefebvre, representative of the Tiny Tim Fund of the Montreal Children’s Hospital. This money was raised through membership fees and a variety of fund-raising events, which included our John Huston Christmas performance, baked goods sale and raffle, our Dickens Birthday Bash raffle and our Victorian Tea and raffle. Many, many thanks to our generous members and participants for helping to fulfill our goal of helping needy families cope with the devastating impact of childhood illness, a cause very close to Dickens’ heart!

The Tiny Tim Fund helps the Paediatric Social Services Department of the hospital provide much needed financial support to Montreal’s most disadvantaged families. They help pay for costly transportation, accommodation for out-of-town families, meal tickets and medication. They also service our northern communities.

When illness strikes a child, the whole family is affected. Often a parents has to stop working in order to be with their child and cannot be there for their other children. The Tiny Tim Fund enables the Montreal Children’s Hospital team of dedicated social workers to enhance the quality of life for families by providing services that they would not be able to afford as a result of their child’s illness.

We are very, very excited to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause and know that we are continuing to fulfill Charles Dickens’ lifelong efforts to help children and spread the love of humanity!

It has been a great first year for our new branch!  Thank you all so much!

Yours in Fellowship,

Ellie
