Zsuzsi Kapas and I (dressed in deer-stalker and cape) attended the Montreal Sherlock Holmes Birthday dinner at the Vieux-Port Steakhouse in Old Montreal. There we met fellow Dickens Fellowship member Maura McKeon and her husband. There were about 60 attendees. It was a great party with an excellent meal, a very entertaining roast of “Sherlock” himself by characters from Arthur Conan Doyle’s works, lovely singing, humorous speeches and a very funny presentation by Josh Freed who read excerpts from his book “He Who Laughs Lasts”. It was a lot of fun and an excellent opportunity to spread the word about Dickens and to gather organizational information from a literary society which has been around successfully for many years. Many thanks to Wilfrid DeFreitas for the invitation! Next year we hope to have a presentation about Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle! Keep posted!
